The Effects and Benefits on the Body

Indian Head Massage helps to reduce the symptoms of tension by relaxing the muscles and alleviating emotional strain. It stimulates the circulatory system and can help to restore temporary hair loss associated with hormonal changes and stress. Indian Head Massage stimulates the body and mind and helps to restore a sense of well-being. It can help to clear the mind making the client feel refreshed, restore homeostasis and aid sleep, one of nature’s best stress cures.

Another benefit of Indian Head Massage is the effect it has on the hair. It nourishes the hair as it stimulates the production of the body’s natural oils giving the hair a healthy ‘shine’. Oils can be used during the massage to further encourage the nourishment of the hair.

Conditions that benefit from Indian Head Massage

There are many conditions that benefit from Indian Head Massage. As the treatment improves circulation it helps to remove waste, particularly lactic acid, from muscles therefore relieving tension headaches, eye strain and muscle aches in the neck and shoulders. It also relieves Tinnitus and other ear problems. Neck and shoulder stiffness which is usually a result of stress is reduced and a sense of well-being restored which promotes restful sleep. Indian Head Massage can help to eliminate Insomnia, reduce the effects of mental tiredness, anxiety, stress and tension in the scalp. Sinusitis and congestion are greatly reduced by the effects of Indian Head Massage as it helps to drain away excess fluid.

How Indian Head Massage can relieve Stress Related Conditions

Indian Head Massage can relieve stress related conditions due to the fact that it increases circulation, promotes well-being and helps restore homeostasis. It increases circulation which in turn, helps to deliver vital nutrients and oxygen to the body. It promotes lymphatic drainage which assists in waste and toxin removal. Indian Head Massage relieves tension in muscle tissue and relaxes the muscles particularly in the scalp, neck and shoulders therefore improving mobility and relieving tension and boosts the immune system.

Massage, including Indian Head Massage remains part of everyday culture in the East. However, in the West, Indian Head Massage has been developed to include massage on the face neck, shoulders and upper arms and has been adapted to suit the demands of our culture and busy lifestyles. Some of the techniques are similar to those used by an osteopath. Serenity Holistic Therapies provide Indian head massage in Newbury at our salon on a regular basis.

It cannot be denied that the benefits of Indian Head Massage are indeed useful in combating the stresses and strains of our culture. It can benefit everyone from the young to the elderly.
As stress is a major contributing factor to many illnesses, the use of Indian Head Massage can be seen as a preventive treatment to reduce stress and rebalance the body’s vital energies. It could be used and supported in Doctor’s surgeries, care homes and hospices although until the awareness of the benefits of Indian Head Massage improves it is unlikely that this will happen in the near future. Using it at home amongst family members encourages socializing, relieves stress and can benefit all members of the family in many ways promoting homeostasis.

Indian Head Massage is a versatile treatment because it can be performed whilst the client remains fully clothed which makes it very effective for short treatments and for treating clients who are uncomfortable about undressing. It can be performed almost anywhere only needing a chair in which the client sits making it an easily accessible treatment. Although the benefits of using oils include conditioning the hair, stimulating hair growth and moisturizing the skin Indian Head Massage is often performed without the use of oils.

Every day, we are confronted with huge amounts of information and we tend to live extremely active lives therefore causing mental overload and our general lack of exercise adds to this stress. Indian Head Massage can combat the effects of stress in everyday life which cause a great number of working days lost each year due to stress. Therefore, by reducing this stress ultimately the Health Service will benefit with less medical treatment being sought for stress related illnesses.

Overall, Indian Head Massage being a versatile treatment, can be performed almost anywhere therefore making it accessible to all and promoting a general feeling of well-being. So if you would like an Indian head massage and you live in Newbury or the surrounding areas then book an appointment today.

Unlike many other healing traditions, Indian Head Massage is as widely practiced today as it was thousands of years ago. It has origins in Ayurveda, an ancient medical text that prescribed the use of massage and one of the oldest healthcare systems in the world. It is of course, traditionally practiced by the people of India and the skill of Indian Head Massage has been passed down from parents to children through the generations with each family and generation adopting their own unique way of performing the massage. The massage is performed on babies and at around age six children are encouraged to massage others so that they may learn the skills of Indian Head Massage.

Traditionally, Indian Head Massage was used as part of a grooming ritual for both men and women. A visit to the barber’s would incorporate a stimulating head massage known as ‘champi’ and the barbers would pass the skills of massage on to their sons. Mothers would use Indian Head Massage to promote strong and healthy hair growth in their children and would pass the skills of massage on to their daughters. In Indian culture it is expected that the masseur and the recipient should be of the same sex.

Indian families use massage on a daily basis and from an early age children are taught to give head massage in order that each family member could both give and receive treatment. It is used for relaxation and healing and to maintain contact therefore reducing stress. It is seen as an important part of Indian culture and they make the time to ensure that all members of the family receive an Indian Head Massage on a regular basis.
